Michigan Blue Cross Blue Shield

Please follow the Enrollment Instructions below to become an electronic submitter to Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan.

  • To enroll for a Submitter ID with BCBS MI please call their EDI Helpdesk at 800-542-0945 option 2.

  • After you call for a Submitter ID please go to http://www.bcbsm.com/provider/electronic_data_interchange/self_submitter_software.shtml

  • Click on “Complete Trading Partner Agreement”

  • Then click on the link that says “Request a user ID and Password now” for their Trading Partner Agreement website.

    • Follow the instructions the representative from BCBS emails you, on how to get a User ID and password for their Trading Partner Agreement website.

  • If you are an institutional submitter, you must enter your Tax ID as your Trading Partner ID on the enrollment forms

If you have any questions regarding any of the documents in this package, please call the BCBS MI EDI Technology Support Center at 1-800-542-0945, option 2.
 

We can now process 276/277 requests (claim status). If this is a transaction you would like to utilize please make sure to enroll with the payer.

 

Waiting for a Response

After processing, a confirmation will be faxed to you as notification to begin filing claims electronically. If neither confirmation nor a returned packet is received after two weeks, contact the Technology Support Center toll-free at 1-800-542-0945.

Testing

Once you have received your Submitter ID and Password from BCBS MI, please call the ClaimShuttle Support Team so that we may add you to our vendor account with BCBS of MI and set an appointment for you to test your mailbox and send your first Test file to BCBS.

Please have 25 test claims ready for testing. Test files should consist of a variety of claims that represent the type of claims you will be submitting once production status is achieved. Test claims will not be processed for payment but will be validated against production files; therefore, they must contain valid patient procedure, diagnosis, and provider information.
